Phonics

Today is lesson 2 on You Tube. We are learning that ‘ea’ can make the e sound as in head. Please watch and join in. Next week we are hoping you’ll be able to watch and join in with your real teachers doing phonics! We’ll be letting you know more about that soon.

Art

This week we are looking at the work of French artist Henri Matisse. He created bold, bright collages using paper cut-outs. Matisse was inspired by nature and created cut-outs of birds, animals, sea creatures, leaves, flowers and even fruits and vegetables in his collages.

Can you create a collage from some paper cut-outs? You could draw or colour in your shapes on paper or card first. Have a look outside to get some inspiration from nature, like Matisse did!

Phonics

Today we would like you to tune in to Letters and Sounds on You Tube – lesson 1. Emma is teaching us how the letter y at the end of a word can make the ‘ee’ sound as in silly, party, mummy, daddy, etc. Have a watch here

You might like to make up a silly sentence with some words ending in the y sound or start with one word and generate a rhyming list or real and nonsense words eg

Silly, billy, chilly…

Maths

Yesterday we started looking at the numbers 11-20.  At home today could you please watch the video below.  There is also a worksheet you could try and complete too.  If you don’t have a printer – don’t worry just talk through with a grown up what your answer would be!  Have fun!

Phonics

In phonics we are learning about split digraphs and the different ways of writing one sound. Today we investigated ee and went on a hunt around the room to find and sort the words. We saw ea, ee, e, and e_e like in the word Steve.
