We went on a nature walk last week to collect twigs to make our clay hedgehogs and here they are! Aren’t they so lovely? We rolled the clay into balls and pinched the front to create a nose. We added a button for a nose and the twigs for the spikes. We love our hedgehogs and have not stopped looking at them.
The Mitten by Jan Brett π¦ π¦ π¦ 𦑠π π»
In our literacy we have been enjoying a Ukrainian folktale called The Mitten by the author Jan Brett. We have read it, story mapped it and written our own favourite parts of the story. We have thought of ourselves as mini authors and even had a book reading in front of the class where we read our stories to our friends. See some of our writing below.

More and less
We’ve been working hard on identifying and describing quantities using the language of more, less and fewer. We can tell you’ve been working hard on this over the Christmas holiday too.
Click on the link below for a fun and quick more and less game we play in class.
Creative arts
This half term the children are rotating around three new creative arts activities. They will be doing sketching, poetry through the art of singing and learning the Cha Cha Cha in dance. This week in our sketching session we explored shading using artists pencils and then drawing a bear. We’ve been reading the story called The Mitten which features a bear character. We followed instructions and all drew the same part at the same time. We love how unique every drawing is.
Merry Christmas one and all π βοΈ βοΈ π πΌ
Our first term is over! Where has the time gone. We’ve loved every minute and celebrated with a class Christmas party today. We reflected on our year so far and were reminded of all the friends we’ve made and how much we’ve learnt in such a short space of time. It made us excited for what’s to come next year! See you all on Monday 6th January 2020.
Merry Christmas Skipper Foundation. Xx
Itβs the most wonderful time of the year π βοΈ βοΈ
We loved our Christmas dinner today. We even bumped into Father Christmas on the way to lunch! We were amused to know that he’d left his reindeer’s on the roof during his visit π¦
We’ve been getting very festive in the class this week. We’ve enjoyed potato printing our families in the form of snowmen and decorating ginger biscuits.
We played some festive Christmas games in the hall this week including a version of duck duck goose called elf, elf, Santa. We also tried to steal Santa’s present without waking him up. We loved this game and didn’t want it to end.
Skipper Superstars π
Wow, what a special day. We performed twice and loved every minute of. We even had time to squeeze in some phonics learning in between performances! It’s been a great couple of weeks learning our story through the art of story telling, story mapping and actions and we hope you loved watching the end product on stage today. We are very proud of every child. What an amazing class!
Sneak Peak π
We can’t wait to share our Christmas show with you this week. It’s already looking amazing! Skipper strand performance will be on Thursday 12th December at 1.30pm.
See you there!
Christmas spirit π
Christmas is in full swing in Skipper Foundation! We are enjoying writing Christmas lists in the home corner and using trees and baubles to practise our addition in our number work.
Our Christmas making afternoon
We enjoyed pairing up with Skipper 3 to make decorations to sell at the Christmas fair next Friday 6th December. We had an afternoon of Christmas arts and crafts with friends and family of Skipper 3. A fun and festive afternoon had by all.
Don’t forget you can catch our wares at the fair next Friday!
